Eni, an Italian oil company, has made a new oil discovery in Angola. The production capacity might be 5,000 barrels per day in perspective. Eni plans to continue exploring in the same area.
The new 20 meters deep oil-bearing field is located in the south-east area of Block 15/06. The field is prospective: the oil is of very high quality and has excellent characteristics. The discovered well hasn’t been tested yet, but there’s the information that the production capacity might be 5,000 barrels per day in perspective. Together with recent discoveries – Kalimba and Afoxé, there is the potential of 400-500 million barrels.
Block 15/06 will be explored further by Eni in 2019. Block 15/06 elaboration development is realized by a Joint Venture, consisting of Eni, Sonangol P&P and SSI Fifteen Limited. In November, together with Sonangol, Eni signed an agreement to expand the Block 15/06. According to the agreement, the block occupies additional 400 km2 on the west.
Block 15/06 is 350 km north-west of Luanda and 130 km west of Soyo. Two floating production storage and offloading units, Ngoma and Olombendo, are connected with Sangos, Cinguvu, Mpungi, Ochigufu e Cabaça S.E. developed fields, with capacity of 200 kilo barrel of oil per day.
