Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel), a joint venture of Eni and Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), awarded Shelf Drilling a one-year contract for the Trident 16 jack-up drilling rig. The rig will be deployed for operations in the Gulf of Suez, offshore Egypt. The start of operations is planned for the first quarter of 2019.

The Trident 16 jack-up drilling rig was built in 1982 and was last upgraded in 2012. Shelf Drilling has rig operations across Middle East, Southeast Asia, India, West Africa and the Mediterranean.

Exploration and production in Mediterranean and West Africa, deepwater operations, cost efficiency and performance optimization will be discussed at the Exploration and Production Offshore Congress Hub in Thessaloniki, Greece on 16-17 September.
